The Metolius continues to fish well as we transition into winter. Blue Wing Olive hatches, sizes 18-20, are steady, with the best action from late morning to early afternoon. Focus on emerger patterns like Sparkle Duns or Film Critics to entice surface feeders. While Pale Morning Duns and Cinygmula may still appear, their presence is tapering off. Nymphing remains highly effective—try golden stones, peacock stones, eggs, euro jig leaches or caddis pupa in orang or tan. For bull trout, larger streamers in olive, black, or minnow colors can produce exciting takes in the deeper runs.
