Community Park is a popular spot for shore fishing

Community Park is a popular spot for shore fishing, and our local angler Larry Wolf has proven why! Larry recently landed a beautiful 5.68-pound, 25-inch striper while fishing along the Colorado River in the Community Park area. He used a pencil popper to hook this impressive catch.

Reports indicate that some of our largest fish are being caught this time of year, especially in the Community Park area. Swim baits are an excellent choice for targeting larger stripers, and shore fishing continues to produce great results.

Additionally, the Willow Beach Hatchery has been stocking the river with rainbow trout, making this an excellent time for trout anglers. Both Rotary Park and Community Park are fantastic spots to catch your limit of trout along the shores of the Colorado River below Davis Dam. Remember, the daily bag limit for trout in this area is five.

If you're heading up to Lake Mohave, stripers are the main attraction, though they are deep this time of year. Trolling with a bucktail jig can yield great results. Keep an eye out for boils, and don’t hesitate to toss anchovies into the ripples for a chance at a nice catch.

We hope this report helps you plan your fishing trip. Wishing you a very Merry Christmas, and we look forward to seeing you soon!
