EAST WALKER RIVER        

The reports coming in from the Nevada side of the EW have mostly been pretty good, the flows are up in the 70’s now and it has seemed to get those fish active. We’ve had a couple decent dry fly reports but mostly it’s been streamer and nymph fishing. The stoneflies seem to have slowed down with the colder weather we’ve been getting but they’re sure to take off again soon. The traffic has been moderate with some anglers focusing on the Rosachi section and others going down further to the Elbow section. Some patterns to try: zebra midge, hare’s ear, little brown bug, pheasant tail, psycho prince, poxyback stone, micro stone, flashback emerger, sculpzilla, dead drift crayfish, ziwi, dali lama. 

 

SCEIRINE RANCH         

The Sceirine fished excellent this past week with anglers reporting great days with streamers and nymphs. Most of the anglers we got reports from reported 10 to 15 fish per half day with several in the bunch being in the 20+ range as well as a couple large rainbows that taped around 25”. With the higher flows and slightly warmer weather the fish are very active right now. It’s a great time to get out there before the flows start to get too high when the run-off starts.               

 

HUNEWILL POND      

The pond is frozen over for now, I’ll get out there later in the Winter to check on the ice conditions and pass that info on.

Waters/regulations that are open during the winter:

Robinson Creek, only from Lower Twin downstream, artificial flies or lures with barbless hook, zero fish limit.

Topaz Lake, open all year. 

Backcountry lakes with the exception of Kirman Lake all remain open all year.
