Water Conditions: Good as of 10/28 flows are stable at 77cfs above the Hot Creek confluence.
Fishing Conditions and Hatches: Good we should be seeing some lake fish moving up from Crowley. Some fish are already pairing and nesting, so extreme caution should be taken not to disturb the spawners. Spawning trout have no interest in eating, as they are busy with other things, like producing more wild trout. Please leave the spawners alone, and be careful where you wade. There are plenty of resident trout and large non-spawners that follow the fish up to take advantage of the feast that the spawn brings on. As the spawners make their beds, lots of bugs are displaced and feeding trout will stack below them in the deeper bend pools.
Recommended Flies:
DRIES: Parachute Adams #20, Sloan Outrigger Caddis #16, Goddard Caddis #16, Elk Hair Caddis Olive #18-22, Brook's CDC Baetis #22-24, Elk Hair Caddis #16, Extended Body BWO #18-22
NYMPHS: Copper Zebra Midge #18-20, Fox's Caddis Poopah Olive or Tan #16-18, BH Flashback Pheasant Tail #16, Olive WD-40 #18, San Juan Worm Red, Red Copper John #18, Nitro Caddis Tan #16, Zebra Midge #16-18
STREAMERS: Meat Whistles, Olive Black and Brown Wooly Buggers, Slump Busters, Perfection Perch, Punk Perch, Stinging Sculpin
