Brand new for this year, the Southwest Council of the Federation of Fly Fishers is putting on a four-day Fly Fishing Faire in Mammoth, September 13 - 16. The event is aimed at both newbies to fly fishing to bring them into the sport as well as continuing educaion for experienced anglers.
The big attraction of the Faire is the offering of numerous seminars and on-the-water workshops ranging from free seminars of a general nature, to $25 for Beginning Fly Fishing and $40 for the on-stream workshops covering advanced skills.
Eight of the Troutfitter guides have generously donated their time and will give many of the on-the-water workshops geared to ratcheting up your skills on our local waters. Guides from other areas will also give workshops. (Unfortunately, I will be chasing Silvers in Alaska that week so no pearls of wisdom on Crowley from me, but Crowley addict, Ernie Gulley, is giving a workshop at Six Bays you might check out.)
There will also be a mini trade show with vendor displays (Troutfitter will have a booth) at the Cerro Coso Community College here in Mammoth, which will also be home to the Faire and the site for the seminars, as well as fly tying and casting instruction. You can get more info and sign-up online at . . . Seminar Sign Up Site.
NOTE: ONLINE SIGN-UP STARTS AT 6 AM ON SUNDAY, JULY 1 AND THE ON-THE-WATER WORKSHOPS ARE LIMITED IN NUMBER AND WILL SELL OUT QUICKLY. DON'T MISS OUT.
