Reports are all over the map. We have not seen too much of a Damsel hatch lately. The weather over the past month has been strange to say the least. It has been cool and windy on most days. This has kept the weed beds from taking over and it has kept water temps down a bit. Fish are actively feeding on Blood Midges throughout the day in anywhere from 6 to 25 feet of water. Deep line Midging fished either "Floater No Cator", with a Type II or III line or with a "DCA" have all been working well. There have been some sporadic rises to swimming Damsels right under the surface but it requires a lot of moving and casting to find a good area. The water is going to get pretty warm over the next month or so and fishing in the early mornings and evenings is going to be important. Maholo Midges in either Black Choronomid or Albino Wino colors have been working well. Bead Head Damsels fished with a floating or intermediate line and a long leader has also been catching fish.
