Current River Conditions: Water conditions are clear, releases out of Lewiston Dam are stable at 300 CFS with flows of about 1,000 CFS below Junction City. Steelhead are moving through slowly and fishing has been good for most anglers this week. With more dry weather this week, expect favorable fishing conditions. All said, rain is good and we are looking forward to more somewhere, sometime in the coming weeks.
Anglers have been doing best with the following flies: Solitude Golden Stone in #8, #6 Black Rubber Legs and #14 Poxyback Hares Ear and purple #14-16 Psycho Prince. We will update this list as fly selection changes...and it does almost weekly.
nowy icy road conditions mean your journey on HWY 299 will be a careful, slow one.
The Fly Shop's?? Tips: A variety of techniques, using your 8-9 wt rod for Salmon, or a more adaptable 5-6 wt fly rod for small steelhead and aggressive browns will tie you into fish. Suspending nymphs under an indicator, stripping buggers and leeches, swinging muddlers or PT nymphs will produce hook-ups! Even dry flies should be in the plan. Bring a parachute Adams! Hey! The King Salmon will eat nymphs suspended under indicators. What a blast!
Road Conditions: Expect icy conditions in the AM and evening hours. Be very careful. Call 1-800.427.7623 for up to date Northern California Road Conditions. Here's a link to Cal-Trans Road Conditions: Click Here.
