Surface temps are 71.5 degrees mid-day and climbing. Clarity excellent, about 14 ft. The Hex Hatch is in full gear... casings are found all around Almanor. Other hatches are slowing. Fish are thick and well fed from all the bugs that have been hatching since last April. Hatches have peaked and are in decline. Reports around the Lake indicate boats are scattered, and mostly in the east basin. The bite has been good the last week, moon phase has been dark and fish are active early. We have had lines in the water no later than 5:30 am. The catch has been mostly rainbows, and a few browns. Best bite has been the east shore. Best fish this week off my boat was a 4.11 rainbow, and several Browns close behind. However, most fish are averaging 2 to 3.5 pounds.
