The Necanicum has a hatchery winter steelhead release and these tend to be early returning fish that mostly done by this time of year. There are still wild steelhead available for catch-and-release through the end of the month.
The Necanicum is low and clear which will make fishing challenging this week. That said, there are fish throughout the basin. If you choose to fish here, light gear and stealthy presentations will be key to success. Please remember to handle wild fish with care and release them back into the water as quickly as possible.
Trout fishing in streams will reopen May 22, 2019.
