Crooked River fishing has been fair. The water is still high which can make things a bit harder than usual. Water coming out of the dam is cool; however, it is still good practice to have a thermometer with you to check temperatures throughout the day. Make sure to fight and release fish quickly to reduce their stress. Fishing in the morning and evenings is best. Caddis and terrestrials are the best dry flies. Pale morning duns hatch inconsistently. Nymphing has been good with the typical small mayfly patterns and caddis pupa. Scuds seem to work well during high flows. The long range forecast shows temperatures getting back down to normal, hopefully this will come true. In the meantime, stay cool and let's hope for rainy cool weather during peak fire season.
