Stocking: One thousand pounds of catfish was stocked last week bringing our total stock so far this season up to 4,500 pounds! The next stocking of 1,000 pounds will be the week of August 21st. Catfish season will run until mid-October. We’ll stock a total of 8,500 pounds this season.

What’s the Catch? The catfish stock was hungry this weekend! Limits were caught from the shoreline and by boat. If you can tolerate the heat, catfishing during the daylight hours can be very productive. Most limits were caught during the day last weekend. The best shoreline fishing is still Siesta, Cloister, and Hermit for catfish. Mackerel and garlic shrimp were getting bites. Lots of Bluegill in Cloister and Half Moon Cove again this weekend. They were biting on wax and meal worms. More catch and release bass by boat this weekend. Shadow and Sentry Cove were the most productive for bass.

Conditions: The water temperature is 78 degrees. Be aware of shallow structure if you’re in a boat especially around the points as the district is still drawing water. The next new moon is August 16th. We anticipate another great weekend with highs in the 80s. Full weather report is below. The sun is rising at 6:08 a.m. and setting at 7:39 p.m.
