General Information: ??Fair to Good. Flows are low throughout the system, so some of the lower stretches are starting to warm up. There has been a variety of different hatches: Several species of Mayflies, and some decent caddis hatches in the evening, and golden stoneflies buzzing around as well. Also, late summer is prime time for the heavy midge hatches on the Upper Sac, and the rocks are starting to get covered with the little black critters that fish like to eat.

Fishing Conditions & Hatches:This is the time of year that produces best early and late in the day.The old standards are always a good choice so break out one of those nymphs you have had success with in the past and give it another chance for glory. As the sunsets it will be time to switch to the caddis and pale evening duns to end the day with some dry fly action. Midges will be one of the goto patterns as we progress through August and into September.

The Fly Shop's Tips: ??When nymphing on the Upper Sac, always use more weight than you think you need to get the flies down to the fish. If you're not ticking the bottom from time to time (yes, this means losing a few flies), you're probably not getting down to where the fish are feeding.
