The Illinois River is open to catch-and-release trout and winter steelhead fishing. Check the regulations for more information on the harvest of winter steelhead. Recent reports indicate winter steelhead have been caught at Briggs Creek and Green Bridge so fish are moving. Flows right now are good but the storm forecast for this weekend will likely blow the river out so this week is the best bet for fishing the Illinois.
