The Upper Kern trout fishing has been fair to good. The CDFW have steadily stocked trout the last three weeks. The best action has been at the park in Kernville to Powerhouse #3. Anglers are scoring fish with salmon eggs, crickets, and trout worms. Fly anglers have scored fish with nymphs and dry/dropper throughout he 20-mile stretch. The Upper Kern River was stocked this week in the following sections: Section 4, Powerhouse #3 to Riverside Park in Kernville; Section 5, Fairview Dam to Lazy River Lodge; and Section 6, Fairview Dam to Johnsondale Bridge. The Lower Kern Largemouth and smallmouth bass bite is fair to good with soft plastics and small crankbaits. At the time of reporting the Upper Kern River was flowing at 351 CFS and the Lower Kern River was flowing at 384 CFS.
